Spotted saiga (Version I)
Once upon a time, there was a hunter who could shoot a sparrow from a distance. He lived by gathering the provisions that the Almighty had granted him and hunting for his sustenance. One day, while hunting in the yellow steppe, exhausted and out of breath, he spotted a lone spotted gazelle grazing on the grassy hill. To avoid being detected, he took cover, crept through the ravine, and approached the slope where he could draw his bow. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a goat with a belly dragging on the ground. The hunter, driven by his desire for prey, thought to himself, "You have no guilt, and I have no food," and he aimed his bow. As the saying goes, "The wild beast speaks with nature," the spotted gazelle sensed a danger looming and raised its head. It saw the gray marksman aiming his bow. Knowing it could not outrun the arrow, the gazelle looked at the hunter with glistening eyes and pleaded. - "Oh, Gray Marksman, I ask for mercy. I have twin kids that have not yet been weaned. My heart aches for my helpless kids, and I come with a yearning heart. Do not shoot me. If you heed my words, I would bless you by saying, 'May your arrow never fall to the ground.' Then you will become a hunter who saves the flying birds and running beasts. You will live without hardship until your last breath! I ask for mercy, do not shoot!" - it said. The hunter did not listen to these words. Exhausted from wandering the steppe all day, he felt that if he lost this gazelle, he would return home empty-handed, and he released the bowstring. At that moment, the sacred gazelle transformed into a spotted stone before the hunter's eyes. After this incident, the Gray Marksman fell into misfortune. Upon hearing this story, a bard played a tune called "Spotted Gazelle."
