Two-Horned Alexander
The famous King Alexander must have had two horns on his head. But no one knew this while he was alive. The reason is that every time he had his hair cut, he would have the head of the barber executed. The meaning of this is that a saint appeared to Alexander in a dream and warned him: "If anyone other than the one who cuts your hair knows about your horns, you will bid farewell to this world that day!" After that, he took precautions and continued to have the barber who cut his hair executed. Thus, the number of those around Alexander who had the skill to cut hair dwindled. One day, when it was time for the king's favorite relative to have his hair cut, Alexander, after having his hair cut by that relative, said: "According to the condition, anyone who sees my horns must bid farewell to this world. But I will not harm you. I will only allow you to cut my hair. Just remember, the day another person knows about my horns, your head will be cut off." After this, the barber became restless. At first, Alexander's two horns haunted him in his dreams and lingered in his mind. Gradually, he became accustomed to it, and a feeling arose within him to share this secret that only he knew with others. But when he thought about revealing it, he was afraid for his life; when he thought about keeping it to himself, the secret inside him became unbearable. Finally, out of options, he went to a healer in the royal palace who knew the languages of seven nations and confessed that he was suffering from an ailment. The healer, after examining him, said: "Although your ailment is serious, the cure is simple. There is a secret inside you that needs to be released. To let that secret out, go to a deserted place, focus your mind, and say the words that are filling you up. You must not just say it casually; you will repeat it until your mouth is drooling and your insides are empty. Just make sure no one hears your voice. If someone hears it, you will be in danger!" The barber followed the healer's advice without fail. He found a dried-up well in a deserted place, lowered his head into the well, and repeated, "Alexander has two horns on his head! Alexander has two horns on his head!..." until he felt empty inside. Thus, he would come to the deserted well twice a month, repeating the words that filled him up and alleviating his ailment. The king was pleased with his relative's discretion, and the barber was also content with escaping an unexpected fate. One day, a caravan passing by the well where the barber frequented stopped there. Among the wandering caravan members, there were people with various talents. Among these caravan members, there was a remarkable flute player. The flute player, idly looking down into the empty well, saw the reeds growing there. These reeds must have thrived on the saliva that had spilled from the barber's mouth. Right there, the flute player jumped into the well, pulled out a reed, and made a flute. The secret of King Alexander revealed its wonder here. When the caravan player tried to play his flute, it spoke human words: "Alexander has two horns on his head!" The caravan player, unable to believe his own ears, played the flute again, and the same words were repeated. Other caravan members were astonished by this marvel, while some suspected that slanderous words were being spoken about the world-renowned king. By the decree of fate, the secret was revealed, and that day Alexander bid farewell to the world forever. This incident spread like a melody through the four corners of the earth via the flute of the caravan player.
