Balzhynger (Version II)
Once, there was a Mongol whose wealth surpassed all. He had a swift steed and a skilled daughter. This horse-loving Mongol heard that there was a swift horse named Balzhyn in the region. The wealthy man, thinking about capturing this horse, summoned Balzhyn and entered his swift steed and the heavy horse into a three-day race. Before the race, he planned to have a one-person outfit sewn for his daughter. If the girl could not finish the outfit, and the heavy horse arrived before the swift steed, the man would give his daughter to Balzhyn. If the swift steed won and the girl managed to finish the outfit, the wealthy man would take the heavy horse. After the agreement, the race began.
As the race approached, the messenger informed the wealthy man that the heavy horse was coming, and the swift steed had collapsed on the way. Now, relying on his daughter, the wealthy man panicked upon hearing that only one button of the outfit remained. Then Balzhyn, convinced of his victory, shouted:
– My horse is Balzhyn the heavy,
Those who don’t know will think it’s a joke.
The button’s string isn’t finished,
Don’t hesitate, give me your daughter, – he exclaimed. In the end, despite the wealthy man’s show of strength, they handed the wealthy man’s daughter over to Balzhyn. The uniqueness of this heavy horse was later expressed in a song by the mixed Mongol-Kazakh community of that time, sung by Baizhigit.
