English
Swan (Version III)
Korkyt, who fled from death, found solace in the waters of his homeland, the Syr Darya, while wandering the four corners of the world. He spread the cover of his magical steed over the water, settled down on it, and when he played his black kobyz, the death that was stalking him could not approach.
Korkyt played the kobyz tirelessly. When he played, the flow of the water would stop, the wind would calm, and all the creatures would come rushing in to listen intently.
One day, while Korkyt was playing his usual melody, a flock of swans flying in the sky heard him, circled around, and finally folded their wings. The swans, enchanted by the mournful sound of the tune, joined in harmony with the black kobyz, lamenting alongside Korkyt.
Korkyt, who expressed his feelings through music, infused the kind qualities of the swan, the noblest of birds, into his kobyz. The melody that was preserved in the memory of generations is said to be the "Swan" tune.
