Aqbai's Aubaqir hears news about Kurmangazy's bay horse. Those who convey that the horse did not win races even in its youth embellish the story into a legend. The selfish Aubaqir says, "Where would a barefoot Kurmangazy get such a horse? He must have stolen it from someone; send two men to take it back, and if he comes looking for it, we'll show that bandit a thing or two," and sends two people. Kurmangazy knocks them off their horse with two strikes, and pointing out their shame in vainly swinging the elder's club, he says, "Go tell Aubaqir what you have seen and heard." Kurmangazy knows that Aubaqir has become his enemy and that he will again come after him with a light. He gathers his friends and spreads a new tune that exposes and humiliates the elder's boundless tyranny. The beginning of the tune depicts some sorrowful events. That sorrow deepens and expands, turning into notes of anger and rage. Suddenly, the weak sounds that resemble the clouds that cover the sun, characteristic of Kurmangazy, break apart, and the tune becomes cheerful, soaring, sliding towards the neck of the dombra, making the listeners feel as if they hear the sound of a horse's hoofbeats. This force, this vivid imagery, repeats and intensifies again. As if waiting for a good day, it brightens up like "the work of a hopeless devil," then suddenly shifts to heavy thoughts and deep sorrow. This heavy situation also lasts for a long time. The theme that seems to "call the people's sorrow" passes through the strings of the dombra, gradually and unhurriedly returning to its previous state. The soaring, lamenting theme that depicts the initial heavy situation reappears, and the tune comes to an end. The gathered crowd remains in silence for a long time. After a while, they lift their heads and discuss the profound depth of the tune. The musician's mother, Alqa, stands up and says, "Let this be named after Aqbai, the father of Aubaqir, who has not shown us the sun. For the many years your father did not pay his dues, for the many grievances he caused you, you will take your revenge on the dombra to proclaim Aqbai's infamous name to your people." The gathered crowd unanimously agrees to name the tune "Aqbai."
