By the end of the last century, like the Uyghur, Dungan, and Kyrgyz peoples in Xinjiang, the Kazakhs also fell under the oppression of local government rulers. It has always been customary for the burdens of the nation to fall on the shoulders of those citizens who can uplift the spirit of the people. After the uprising led by the wrestler Sadyr along the Ili River, the number of spies within the country increased, and incidents of people nudging each other became more frequent. This is an age-old method used to eliminate those who are undesirable to the ruling authorities. In such turmoil, the renowned musician Qozheke Nazaruly, the head of the large Alban clan who had moved from the Karakara and Narynkol regions to the banks of the Tekes River, was slandered. At that time, the most reliable and devoted servants to the government were the traders who roamed the country, gathering abundant information. Especially, traders of different ethnic backgrounds ruthlessly reported those citizens who could stand up against the authorities. When narrow-minded, short-sighted, and petty individuals from within the community joined in, rumors and slander spread like wildfire, disrupting the peace of the nation. This trap also ensnared Qozheke. A caravan of Tatar traders that arrived at the Tekes River was robbed by an old thief named Darkenbay. The next day, government officials, fueled by anger, began searching for the thief. At that time, the Dadai, a local leader of the Alans, had a falling out with Qozheke and took advantage of the situation to provide testimony to the authorities, claiming "Qozheke is the one who robbed the caravan." Where there is oppression, there is no humanity; they quickly silenced Qozheke. The "long ears" of the steppe spread the news to the Tekes River in no time. At that moment, influential figures Rabat Ture and Mamyrbek Ture immediately mounted their horses and asked the government officials for a guarantee to protect their friend Qozheke for a year. They promised to find the real thief within that year. However, the thief, who had managed to hide, would not be easily found. The promised time was approaching. The baseless slander crushed Qozheke's spirit and exhausted his options. Even his relatives, who believed in his honesty like the rising sun, were distressed and troubled. One day, taking advantage of the absence of Rabat and Mamyrbek in the village, the old accuser Dadai had Qozheke arrested again. This time, Qozheke's son, the mullah Ybyrayym, was also captured. Without allowing them to look back, they were thrown into the prison in Kure. This place was notorious for its cruelty, known for torturing political prisoners and inventing the most horrific forms of suffering. In the Kure prison, Qozheke endured unimaginable tortures. The purpose of the torture was clear: to force him to confess to the slander. But Qozheke said nothing but the truth. During this time, Qozheke's esteemed friend Rabat Ture did not sit idly by. He spent money, sent people, and maneuvered to secure Qozheke's release from higher authorities. Eventually, he learned that Qozheke had been sentenced to death. With no possibility of overturning the sentence, Rabat Ture risked his own life as a guarantee and requested a week to say goodbye to his people. However, he did not inform Qozheke of this situation. Thus, after returning to the village and reuniting with his relatives, the elders gathered in a private house. At that moment, Rabat Ture began to speak gently: "Oh, Qozheke, it is true that a person born into this world is a guest to one another. We have been like a lost calf, wandering without you. Take your dombra; you must have a lot of secrets stored in your heart. Tomorrow is in the hands of the Almighty. Let what is in your heart out; let your dombra speak!" Only then did Qozheke realize that he had been temporarily released. He understood and, after a moment of reflection, spoke: "God does not create the immortal; the one who does not perish does not strike. I have no way to escape death. Before the Almighty, my conscience is clear; there is only one thing that torments my soul, Rabat! It is difficult to say goodbye forever to a respected person like you!" Upon hearing these words, Rabat's shoulders trembled, and tears filled his eyes. As for Qozheke, he straightened himself like a bird on a perch, took his dombra in hand, and then the sorrow that had been stuck in his heart poured out as the melody of "Kertolghau." Qozheke also played the tunes "Taskomir Shoghy Altynda" and "Taskomir Shoghyna Karylu." A week later, Qozheke was once again imprisoned in the Kure prison and was roasted to death over a coal fire.
