Black Horse
A young servant, who tended to the rich man's horses and managed his affairs, fell in love with the rich man's only daughter. Although the girl had feelings for the young man, her relatives did not approve of her marrying a servant.
One day, the girl sent a message to the young man: "My father is about to marry me off to a man I do not love and is preparing for my wedding soon. If you have not broken your promise, find a way to abduct me," she said. Not knowing what to do, the young man consulted with the village's respected elder for advice. After listening to the young man's words, the elder replied:
– My son, may your wish be fulfilled! However, we cannot win the rich man's daughter with wealth – our means are insufficient. We cannot win her with bravery either – our strength is lacking. We can only win her through extraordinary cunning, he said. The young man then asked:
– Elder, what kind of cunning?
– The rich man has a famous horse named Karajorga. If we can manage to capture that horse by chance, the horse itself will come, and it will bring the girl along with it. She will come of her own free will. Only then will we be free from all obligations, he said.
– Agreed, elder. I will follow your advice. But tell me how to capture Karajorga. "A man’s companion is risk," I will see to it, said the young man.
– Then, inform your bride. Give her a hint that you will be coming soon. But from the day you arrive, she should pretend to be bedridden. She should act like a sick person. When her aunt inquires about her condition, she should not respond to her but only speak to her mother and say: "Knowing that I will leave for another household, I am heartbroken. Tell my father that before I leave, I want to visit my relatives and spend time with my friends. Let me ride Karajorga," she should say. And have her mother convey this message to a respected person in the village. Otherwise, the rich man will not agree. Karajorga is a sacred animal that is not given to women, let alone men, he warned. – Once Karajorga is captured, the girl should not immediately turn the horse towards the village. First, let the horse warm up and get accustomed. You go ahead and wait patiently. The rest will be determined by fate, he said.
The young man followed all the elder's advice. The girl's mother also convinced her father, and eventually, Karajorga came under the girl's control. After a while, as the horse warmed up and stretched its legs, Karajorga set its course towards Taskuduk.
On the way, the young man met his bride and sent a messenger to the village to announce the news. The villagers, wishing him well and waiting for his arrival, finally saw Karajorga, which stood out distinctly from afar amidst the dust, and it became the rich man's daughter’s share, the beginning of her world, as it settled into the place it arrived.
