Morning Nightingale
Chasing melodies, the young Ashim, one year, while wandering around the Kökqamyr foothills, finds himself at the Kaishy, Shirké pasture. The host he visits has a son of similar age to Ashim. In the evening, they let the mare out to graze and go to the evening poetry contest, returning close to dawn, and then they take a rest near the horses in the pasture, among the thick bushes by the stream. As dawn breaks, Ashim wakes up. From among the trees, he hears the sweet song of a nightingale. Ashim is captivated by the many melodies of the nightingale's song and listens intently. When the nightingale stops singing, Ashim picks up his dombra and starts playing a beautiful tune, responding to the nightingale, then stops again. The nightingale begins to sing once more. At this point, Ashim raises the sound of his dombra and plays a beautiful melody. Hearing this, the nightingale stops its song. The pleasant morning of the pasture, the playful, eloquent bird of nature, and the young dombra player Ashim create a scene as if they are both in a contest of artistry and sharing sweet melodies. – I was truly amazed by this, – Ashim would say when talking about this, – it was then that I paid attention to the nightingale's singing. The nightingale flew closer and sang again. So absorbed was I in the nightingale's beautiful song that I didn't even wake the young man beside me; as the sun rose higher, the nightingale disappeared, and I couldn't see it among the thick bushes. While "conversing" with this playful creature of nature, we also gathered the mare and returned. If such a unique influence is not made on human feelings, where would inspiration come from! This is how I created the melody called "Dawn Nightingale."
