Amiren's Dream
Amire was born in Altai and later moved to Erenqabyrga to settle. He was a musician, making a living through handicrafts, and worked as a shoemaker, woodworker, and blacksmith. In his middle age, his wife passed away, and illness took away everyone except for his only son. This blow deeply affected him. The cloud of sorrow never left his head. Even though his only son grew up to be a man, he could not escape the hardships of life. While he was living like this, his only son also died, leaving him with nothing but his empty head. Unable to enjoy the joys of his only child and deeply saddened by the loss, he nearly lost his mind. After the people gathered and returned from the grave, those who were close to him in the community tried to console Amire with kind words.
At that moment, the musician Amire took his dombyra, which was hanging on the wall, and began to play a mournful tune:
Oh, false, false moon!
The heart is left behind by the false world!
Oh, my God, who has taken my only one!
It has bound itself to my heart as a sorrow,
This unending longing! – and he began to play mournfully. From then on, every day of the rest of his life, after performing his prayers, he would take his dombyra and play this "Arman" tune dedicated to his son's death.
