Asan Kaygy (Version II)
A boy named Asan Kairi was orphaned at the age of seven. Despite this, he grew up to become a brave man and while hunting, he heard news of a beautiful girl from a nearby village. As he was heading to see her, the girl told her mother, "Mom, today four strangers are coming to our house. 'The letter of a person is his ear, the letter of a bird is its wing, the dog's rusty claw, the horse's drunken hoof,' so you should clean the house," she said. As it turned out, Asan Kairi arrived at that house to see the girl, and upon sitting down, he admired her and stroked her hair. At that moment, the girl stood up and touched the large horsehide that was lying on the ground. "Well, this won't do," she said and left. When he returned home, he asked his mother, "What did my father do in this world?" His mother replied, "Your father hunted and fished. His life was spent doing those things." Then he took a companion with him and went hunting and fishing. One day, he caught a golden chest on a hook from the water. When he opened it, he found a beautiful girl inside. Asan took that girl. However, the girl did not say a word. No matter how hard he tried to make her speak, he was unsuccessful, and eventually, he went to Egypt. It is said that "the Egyptian girl cannot help but speak." Even when he went to Egypt, she remained silent. However, she smiled quietly in three instances: Once, there was a person taking salt while naked, and when they arrived, he became embarrassed and covered his private parts with salt. She smiled at that. One day, there were many people in the market. A man was selling boots and asked his companion, "Will those boots last without tearing for three years?" She smiled again. Then two women went to a judge fighting over a child, and when the judge raised his hand to say, "I will cut it in half with a sword," one woman cried out, "Oh my dear, wherever you go, just stay safe!" and continued to weep. She smiled at that too. There were no other words. When they returned home, feeling ashamed that his wife had not spoken, he said, "I took you to Egypt, and you smiled three times. Why don't you speak?" The girl replied, "Stop, brave one, listen. The reason I laughed is this: it is quite shameful for a person to be embarrassed and cover their private parts with salt while taking it. Salt is the highest quality flavor in the world. Without it, nothing has taste. I laughed at the foolishness of covering one's private parts with salt. Secondly, the man selling boots asks his companion, 'Will they last without tearing for three years?' But that person's life is only three days left. I laughed at the folly of being unaware of death while being distracted by the pleasures of this world. Thirdly, when the women were fighting over the child, when the judge raised his hand to say he would cut it in half, the child's own mother said, 'Oh my dear, wherever you go, just stay safe!' showing genuine concern. I laughed at the fact that one of the women was unjustly taking someone else's child. These are the reasons I laughed: 'If one does not fear God and is not ashamed of people, they will achieve their goals even through lies.' Now, brave one, the reason I did not speak is that calamity comes from the tongue. In the years I have been with you, if I had spoken even a word, it would have been good; if I had spoken to bring you joy, it would have been good. 'If I were to say something bad one day, it would be very shameful. It could bring misfortune to my eternal happiness,' I thought and refrained from speaking. They say a woman's husband is her master and protector after God, and I was afraid of that. I wanted to keep my shame until I gave birth to a child. Yet you wanted to kill me with your sword without regard for that. I had no choice but to speak. Well, you spoke without regard for that. You have broken your promise to me and made me sinful. Now I will speak. I was the daughter of the Sultan of Water. Since I was thirteen, I have seen you in my dreams, fallen in love, and wished to be with you. Well, I found a way to be with you. But you forced me without reason and did not let me be patient. You made me speak against my will. Fate has been like this; now I will leave you, and I have a son who is three months away from being born inside me. You will find him in the forty-day desert or by the bank of the forty-day river. Stay and find him when the time comes to take him," she said, "Farewell, be safe," and she left, saying, "Do not be angry with me; you should be angry with yourself for not being patient." The girl ran away, and Asan chased her, but in the end, the girl jumped into the river and disappeared. Asan was left behind. From then on, Asan wandered in sorrow, searching for his child, and there was no corner of the world he did not traverse on his swift steed. Asan began to grieve from that moment on.
