Asan Qaygy and Ormanbet Khan (Version III)
Ormanbet Khan took a girl named Karagoz from the common people and invited Asan Qaygy to the feast. Asan Qaygy did not come. And they held a feast with a falcon and a swan. Asan Qaygy did not come. Then the Khan made a stone mosque in the city of Kazan and held a feast, but Asan Qaygy did not come. At that time, the Khan, angry with Asan Qaygy, sent a messenger to summon him and said:
– I held three feasts and invited you, but you did not come to any of them. You did not participate in my joy, – he said. Asan Qaygy stood up and replied:
– Oh, Khan! Why should I come to celebrate? You were a noble Tatar, yet you took a common woman. You were a Khan, but your lineage mixed with the common people. The falcon was the servant of the bird, while the swan was the king of the birds. You have lowered your head to the common people. You built a stone mosque, which separates the infidels from the Muslims – that is God's doing. He created the Muslim with a white disease and the infidel with a black disease, and the mosque that separates the boundaries of halal and haram is based on halal intentions... You buried a name that is red like a fox, longer than a crane, with a nose like ours and eyes like salt. Now your mosque will be taken by the infidels. What joy do you have in coming here? – he said.
