The second story
One day, the khan was sitting with his companions, including Jirenche, when an old man with a white beard entered, greeted the khan, inquired about his well-being, and went to sit at a distance. Then the khan stood up and said:
– Ah, Jirenche, what does the old man say? – he asked. Then Jirenche stood up and replied:
– Your Majesty, the old man says he is twenty years old. He says his age is what I say it is, – he said. Then the old man spoke up:
– Your Majesty, Jirenche himself is the middle of men, a person is the middle of men, how should it be? – he said. Then Jirenche replied:
– The middle of men is like butter that has been separated from the curds, – he said. The khan said:
– Ah, Jirenche, what does a young person say? – he asked. Jirenche replied:
– What do young people ask, young people frolic, they say there is this and that, – he said. The phrase "this and that" is said by the elders of the Kazakhs; the heart of a young person does not settle in one place, their aspirations move forward, and thus young people wish for this and that, their hearts do not find rest in one place. Jirenche's phrase "this and that" reflects that.
