The union of Zhirenshe the Wise and Karashash
At the age of fifteen, Jirenche, while on his way to visit his maternal uncle, met a man who was herding camels, and the place he was asking about was the remnants of a recently relocated village. Jirenche looked at the village and said: – There are two wives in this house. Looking at the remnants of the second house, he said: – There are two beautiful girls in this house. While looking at the third village, he remarked: – This house has many dogs. Then the camel herder asked: – How did you know? To which Jirenche replied: – I knew there were two wives because they were arguing and one of them had dug out the fire pit with a ladle. I realized there were two girls because they were tying their waists with two pieces of rope to look beautiful. I knew there were many dogs because I saw the tails of the dogs sticking up from where they had dug their feet. – The camel herder belonged to his own village. The traveler, amazed that the boy's words were accurate, asked: – My dear boy, where are you going, and who are you? – My name is Jirenche, and I am going to my uncle, – he replied. – If you grow up to be a man, you will not be an ordinary person. It is getting late. There is a village just beyond that hill. A woman who has no children has given birth today. They will have a celebration for the newborn. You should join the festivities; no one will chase you away, with your knowledge, – he said. Just as the camel herder had said, when Jirenche arrived at that village, he found himself at a celebration where the old men of the Kazakh community were gathered, and after a night of entertainment, Jirenche fell asleep and had a dream. In his dream, it was said: “You will take this newborn girl as your wife when she turns fifteen.” The boy woke up joyfully and continued on his way. On his second journey to his uncle, he passed by the village and it started to rain. The calves were bleating. The children who were bringing dung ran away from the rain, spilling their dung and heading home, while a girl remained sitting, holding her two calves, without bleating, and sheltered her dung from the rain. Seeing this, Jirenche approached and asked: – Why are you sitting in the rain? The girl replied: – The foolish children left their calves bleating and abandoned their dung. If my dress gets wet, it will dry, – she said. This girl was Karashash. Jirenche married her.
