The Choice of Zhirensha's Bride
Jiren's wife passed away, and while looking for a new wife, he meets an old man's daughter. In front of a modest house, a girl was standing. The girl was wearing a dress made of red fabric. The lining of the dress was white. The girl had a rather large mouth. Jiren, upon meeting her, said:
– The roof of this house is quite large. The girl replied:
– If it's large, its smoke must be straight. Jiren said:
– I was watching a girl with a white arm and a red dress. The girl responded:
– I saw her. Just now, by the well, an old-nosed black bull was sniffing its rear.
Jiren sent someone to go to that girl's house and talk to her father. The girl was home alone, washing her hair. When the person entered, the girl said:
– Curse be upon the ancestor of the person who came. The person sent did not understand. Jiren said:
– There is no dog in the house.
– I asked, "Where did your father go?" She replied, "He went to boil a wooden cauldron."
Jiren said:
– Her father must have gone to grind tobacco.
– I asked, "Where is your mother?" She said, "She went between the dead and the living." Jiren said:
– She must have gone to a woman who cannot give birth.
– I asked, "Where is your brother?" She said, "He went hunting with his eight-legged one."
Jiren said:
– He must have gone with a pregnant mare.
– I asked, "Where is your sister-in-law?" She said, "She went to gather firewood, even though there are many."
Jiren said:
– She must have gone for firewood.
