About the hero Edige
Two young farmers lived in the Naryn sands. They were likely those who prepared horses for races and trained dogs for hunting.
One day, after a six-month journey, they brought back a falcon chick. They began to nurture and raise it. They took their bird hunting and enjoyed its benefits. The falcon became a skilled hunter. Hearing about it, the khan desired the falcon and sent a man to request it. However, the owner refused to give it up. Angered by this, the khan pursued the young man and exiled him to Siberia on charges of theft. At that time, both of them had sons. One boy was named Edige, and before Edige's father set off for Siberia, he said to his friend: "I will tie my son to the only poplar tree on the way, you will untie him from there, I entrust him to you!" – and then he left.
From the designated place, his friend brought the boy and raised him as his own. The soothsayer in the khan's palace read fortunes and told the khan: "Your death will come from one of the children born this year."
His friend kept Edige and gave his own son to the khan. The khan took all the gathered children and put them at the end of a spear.
Days passed. Edige turned sixteen. He became the strongest among his peers. One day, he was taken into service at the khan's palace. While at the palace, Edige often found himself at odds with the khan. One day, the soothsayer read fortunes again and saw the khan's death coming from the new servant. The khan devised a plan to kill Edige. The khan's wife mixed poison into yogurt and gave it to Edige. Edige refused to drink the yogurt. He sensed the taste of treachery within it. He divided the yogurt into four parts with the container and then mixed it up before returning it. The wife was startled and quickly informed the khan, asking for Edige's arrest.
By dividing the yogurt into four, he meant, "If you do this again, I will divide you into four. I will unleash chaos by mixing it up." The young bird, separated from his homeland and land, was named "Jasqys" by the young man's father (Edige's father).
