Осындай тым жақсы жүгiрiк едi, Суға кiрсе балықтай жүзер едi. Кiсiнесе бiлерсiң көк күлтiрей, Осындай бiр дана айғыр едi. Бiрқатар жомарттығы Хатымтайдың Үрiмнiң патшасына мағлұм болған. Падиша хазiретiне есiтiлген, Хатымтайдан жомарт жоқ мәсли болған. Осындай мадақты патша хазiретi Есiтiп уәзiрiне бiр сөз салды. Айтыпты падиша хазiретi: – Тiлеймiн Хатымнан осы атты. Осылайша бiр дана уәзiрiне Хатымға барарға бұйрық салды. Қабила Тайға елшi жеттi, Хатымтай ауылына келiп жеттi. Осылайша елшiлер қонақ болды, Бiр күн өтiп екiншi күн және болды. Осында уәзiр де сөйлей бердi, Падиша хазiретiнiң айтқан сөздi. Хатымтай осында бiр айтады: – Бұрын неге айтпадың бұл хабарды, Жорғамды басы бүтiн саған берiп, Шат қылар едiм мен көңiлiмдi. Өткен күн сiз қонақ болған уақыт Қой-түйемнен бiрiсi де қорамда жоқ. Сiздерге ет асарға бiр қарадан Көзiме бұ жорға көрiндi құп. Атымның мәшһүрлiгiн тiлемеймiн, Тiлеймiн дүнияда өзiм намым. Хатымтай осылайша сөздi тамам еттi, Елшiлерге алтын менен киiм бердi. Үрiмнiң падишасы мұны есiттi, Жорға сойып сыйлағанын һәм есiттi. Алтын киiм, жылқы берiп ұзатқанын Бiле салып падиша тахсин еттi. Мұны естiп Йеменнiң ол әкiмi Ойлаған Хатымнан болам сақи. Ол әкiм хасаддан бiр айтыпты: – Хатымды не үшiн мақтайсыз? – дептi. Мендей мемлекетке сұлтан емес, Далада бiр жатқан ғарiп, – дептi. Бұ әкiм сарайында мәжiлiс қылды, Мәжiлiсiнде һәр кiсiнi құрмет еттi. Һәр адамның халiне лайық болған, Мәжiлiсте өзi жүрiп тағзым еттi. Кейбiреу мәжiлiстен тұра салып, Хатымды сөйледi жаман қылып. Мәжiлiс қылған ол әкiм тұра келдi, Хатымға тым қатты хасад қылды. Көрiссе Хатымды өлтiрмек болып, Осылайша өзiнен қиял еттi. Хатымның ауылын бiлмегеннен, Бiр әдемi жiгiтке ұшырап сұрады ендi. Бұ жiгiт Балажойға қарсы келдi, Ашық жүздi достықты изһар қылды. Балажой бұ жiгiттi жақсы көрiп, Екеуi осында тамыр болды. Балажой Хатымды бiлмеп едi, Бұ жiгiт Хатымтайдың өзi едi. Сұлу беттi бiр жiгiт болған екен, Ғалым, ақыл және де тәттi тiлдi. Балажойды бұ жiгiт қонақ еттi, Үйiне алып барып құрмет еттi. Осылайша Балажойдың көңiлiн алды, Iзеттi, құрметтi қатты қылды. Бiр кеше сахар уақты болып едi, Балажойдың қолдарын келiп өптi. Балажой айтады ол жiгiтке: – Рұқсат бер ендi бiзге, әй, қарағым. Көңiлiм сол уақыт болар едi, Керегiңдi осынан тауып кетсең. Балажой естiдi Хатымтайдан Осындай сөздердi шын көңiлден. Тiлеймiн сiздерден ендi мұнда, Һешкiмге сырымды зинһар етпе. Йеменнiң әкiмiнiң бұйрығыменен Хатымды iзденiп келдiм мұнда. Әй, жiгiт, Хатымды сұрайын ендi, Ауылы қайда Хатымның, айтың ендi. Балажой айтады сырларыны: – Естiдi Йеменнiң падишаһы, Жiбердi бiздердi бұл орынға, Хатымның кесiп кел деп басыны. Бiлмеймiн бұ iске қандай себеп, Кеткенiн падишаның ашу қылып. Осылайша жiбердi бiздi мұнда, Хатымның басыны талап қылып. Балажой айтады ол жiгiтке: – Тiлеймiн Хатымды бiлдiрмекке, Хатымның мекенiн бiр айтсаңыз, Болады ынтымақтық бұ достықта. Хатымтай осында мұны есiттi, Күлiмсiреп Балажойға ендi дедi: – Хатым деген iздегенiң мен боламын, Қылышыңменен басымды кел, кес! – дедi. Қылышын Балажой шығарды ендi, Шығарып бiр жерге қойып едi. Хатым да басын қойып түрегелдi, «Кесiңiз басымды» деп рұқсат бердi. Сенiңдей шарифтiң ұжудына Жәбiр етпек бiздерге обал, – дептi. Осылай деп Хатымның екi көзiн, Балажой келiп өптi мұнда өзiн. Мұнан кейiн құшақтасып бiр көрiсiп, Тұтты ендi осында Йемен жолын. Балажой Йеменге қайтып келдi, Халiнi падиша сұрап бiлдi. – Не үшiн Хатымның бiр басыны Кеспейiн[ше] Йеменге қайттың? – дедi. Хатымның жомарттық ауыр жүгi, Екi қат iлдi менiң арқама. Мұндан соң Йеменнiң падишаһы Мөһiрлеп уәзiрге ақша бердi. – Ақшаны Хатымға алып бар, – дедi, Бiздерден сәлемдi сөйле, – дедi. Олардан бiрталай болған кiсi, Сахабалар қолына асир түстi. Мұндан соң пайғамбар Расул Алла: – Зiнжiрдi қолынан алың, – дептi. Пайғамбар Расулдың бұйрығыменен Зiнжiрдi алдылар қол-аяғынан. Көрейiн достарым көргенiн, Өлейiн анлар һәм өлсе, – дейдi. Осылай деп бұ қыздың сөйлегенi Пайғамбар құлағына есiтiлдi.

The Tale of Khatimtai the Generous
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful In the world, there was a man named Khatimtai, His residence was in Arabia. He was also known for his generosity, Having been generous even before the Prophet, the Messenger of Allah. In the time of Khatimtai, There was a black stallion. Let me describe the characteristics of this horse, Its voice was like thunder. This stallion was very handsome, When it ran, it was incredibly swift. When the stallion galloped, The wind that followed was left behind. Such a magnificent runner it was, If it entered the water, it would swim like a fish. When it neighed, you would know it was a blue stallion, Such a wise stallion it was. Khatimtai was very wise and generous, His generosity was renowned in every city. Many of Khatimtai's acts of generosity Were known to the king of Urim. The king heard about him, That there was no one as generous as Khatimtai. If you looked at his stallion, it was like a champion, Such a horse had never existed in the world. Upon hearing such praise, the king Spoke to his minister. The king said: – I wish to have this horse from Khatimtai. If he were to grant it as a favor, It would indeed be true of Khatimtai's generosity. If he does not give this horse, Then the claim of generosity is empty. Thus, he ordered his wise minister To go to Khatimtai. This minister was very wise and clever, He took ten men with him as companions. When they went as envoys, It was winter, and snow and rain were falling. The envoy reached the Tai tribe, And arrived at Khatimtai's village. There, the envoys enjoyed hospitality, And were treated with many blessings. Khatimtai slaughtered a horse for the guests To prepare meat. Once the envoys finished eating, They were given gold as a gift. Thus, the envoys were guests, One day passed, and then another day came. The minister continued to speak, Relaying the words of the king. The minister said: – I have come to you, my lord, The sultan asks for your horse – please give it. Upon hearing this, Khatimtai Became somewhat intoxicated with pride. Khatimtai then said: – Why did you not tell me this news earlier? If I had known, I would have gladly given you my horse, And it would have delighted my heart. Oh, alas, this beloved horse of mine, I have made it a feast for you, this champion. I slaughtered it yesterday evening To serve you as guests. In the time you were guests, There is not a single sheep or ram left in my pen. To prepare meat for you, This horse appeared to me as a suitable offering. The envoy then said: – It was not necessary to slaughter the stallion, If you had offered us something else, It would have sufficed for us as guests. Khatimtai replied: – My guest cannot leave without eating meat, No matter how precious my stallion is, I preferred my guest to be satisfied. My friends, in this world, I act, May my name be renowned in this world. I do not wish for my horse to be famous, I wish for my own name to be known in the world. Thus, Khatimtai concluded his words, And gave the envoys gold and clothing. He also provided them with horses for their journey, Honoring his guests with respect. The king of Urim heard of this, He heard of the horse that was slaughtered and the gifts given. Upon learning of the gold and horses given, The king praised Khatimtai. And listen, oh, my friends, Khatimtai has such a marvelous tale. Once upon a time, when he came from Yemen, He acted generously with body and soul. There was a governor in Yemen, During the time of the generous Khatimtai. This governor was also generous, Yet he could not match Khatimtai. Why? Because Khatimtai was wealthy, Such generosity is rare in this world. In the world, there are no words to describe Khatimtai's example. Khatimtai was generous as he claimed, His hands scattered money like rain. Hearing this, the governor of Yemen Thought to himself, "I will be generous like Khatimtai." If someone were to praise Khatimtai, Calling him generous in a gathering, This governor, filled with envy, Would become angry in his heart. This governor expressed his envy: – Why do you praise Khatimtai? – he said. There is no sultan like me in this state, Just a poor man lying in the field, – he said. This governor held a gathering in his palace, And honored every person present. He treated each person according to their status, In the gathering, he himself showed respect. In this gathering, someone stood up, Praising Khatimtai with a prayer. Some others stood up from the gathering, Speaking ill of Khatimtai. The governor, upon hearing this, became furious, He became very envious of Khatimtai. "Bring me Khatim's blood," he ordered, And there, he commanded someone to do so. – Why? Because in Khatim's time, I cannot reach their level of generosity. If Khatim is alive in my time, My name will not remain in generosity. After this, a man named Balajoy left, He took the path to the Tai tribe. He intended to kill Khatimtai, Thus, he plotted against him. Balajoy went on his way, And soon reached the Tai tribe. Not knowing Khatim's village, He encountered a handsome young man and asked him. This young man approached Balajoy, With a friendly face, he expressed friendship. Balajoy liked this young man, And they became friends. Balajoy did not know Khatimtai, This young man was Khatimtai himself. He was a handsome young man, Wise, intelligent, and sweet-tongued. This young man honored Balajoy, Taking him home and treating him with respect. While honoring Balajoy, He also made him feel at ease. Thus, Balajoy won over his heart, He became very respectful and honored. Not knowing Balajoy's intentions, He treated him like a relative. One day, during the time of the sahar, Balajoy came and kissed his hands. – Stay as our guest for many days, – he said, I will honor you, – he added. "I could not honor you as you deserve," – Khatimtai said, – oh, my dear. Balajoy said to this young man: – Please allow us to leave now, my dear. Because I have a great need, I have a purpose I am seeking in this world. Khatimtai said to Balajoy: – Please tell me your need. If you tell me your purpose, I will strive to help you find what you seek. My heart will be at ease, If you find your need from here. Balajoy heard Khatimtai's words And such words came from his heart. Balajoy said to Khatimtai: – I will tell you my secret from my heart. I wish to tell you here, Do not tell my secret to anyone. By the order of the governor of Yemen, I have come here seeking Khatimtai. Oh, young man, I wish to ask about Khatimtai, Where is his village? Please tell me. Khatimtai smiled and said: – What is the purpose of your inquiry here? Balajoy shared his secrets: – The king of Yemen heard, He sent us to this place, To bring Khatimtai's head. I do not know the reason for this task, The king has sent us in anger. Thus, he sent us here, Demanding Khatimtai's head. Balajoy said to this young man: – I wish to find Khatimtai, If you tell me Khatimtai's whereabouts, This friendship will be united in harmony. Khatimtai heard this, Smiling, he said to Balajoy: – I am the Khatimtai you seek, Come, take my head with your sword! – he said. Separate my head from my body, Let it be your wish to go to the king, Cut off my head in the dark, And quickly leave without being noticed. If you do not leave quickly, If you leave when dawn breaks, My relatives may come, And I do not wish for any harm to come to you. After this, Balajoy left the secret, And placed Khatimtai's head in the middle. Seeing Khatimtai in such a state, He cried out and wept. After recognizing Khatimtai, Balajoy was stunned upon seeing him. Balajoy, crying and weeping, Kissed Khatimtai's hands upon recognizing him. Balajoy drew his sword, And placed it somewhere. Khatimtai also placed his head down, Allowing him to "cut off my head." Balajoy said to Khatimtai: – I will not put down the sword for you, – he said. It would be a shame for us to harm A noble like you, – he said. Thus, Balajoy came and kissed Khatimtai's eyes. After this, they embraced and met, And then took the path back to Yemen. Balajoy returned to Yemen, The king inquired about his condition. – Why did you return to Yemen Without cutting off Khatimtai's head? – he asked. When you arrived at Khatimtai's village, Did you not engage in a struggle, you coward? You could not defeat Khatimtai, Did you return empty-handed? Here, Balajoy replied, He bowed before the king. He spoke of Khatimtai's prayers and blessings To the king. Balajoy said to the king: – I found Khatimtai in this world, Talented, good-natured, and handsome, Thus, I found him in the Tai land. Khatimtai was very generous, Wise, and pure-hearted. And let me tell you one of his qualities, In strength, he surpassed us. Khatimtai's burden of generosity, Has placed a heavy load on my back. Such a wise and generous man, He gives whatever blessings he has. Thus, Balajoy spoke at length, Telling the king what he had seen. After this, the king of Yemen Prayed for Khatimtai. Then the king of Yemen Sealed a letter and gave money to the minister. He firmly placed the money in his pocket, And granted it as a favor to Khatimtai. – Take this money to Khatimtai, – he said, And convey our greetings, – he added. Khatimtai's fame is worthy of Whatever he deserves, – he said. He is indeed worthy of praise, His generosity is true in this world. For this reason, I will send this letter to Khatimtai, Sealed with his name. In the time of the Prophet, the Messenger of Allah, When the companions went to the Tai tribe, Some of them did not accept them When they came to the believers. Among them were many people, Who fell captive to the companions. Here, the Prophet, the Messenger of Allah Ordered to execute them with the sword. Among the captives, There was a girl among them. This girl pleaded with the companion: – Do not let the Muslims kill me in this battle. I pray to the Prophet, To free me, I am Khatimtai's daughter. Then she came to the Prophet, And said: – Free me, I am Khatimtai's daughter. My father was generous in this world, He provided many provisions for the poor. He freed many in distress, I pray, yes, my lord, I ask you. After this, the Prophet, the Messenger of Allah: – Remove the chains from her hands, – he said. Do not harm this girl, Free her right now, – he commanded. By the Prophet's order, They removed the chains from her hands and feet. Thus, all the companions freed Khatimtai's daughter.
