A hero passes, but the nation remains.
The formidable Syrymbet batyr, who never allowed the enemy to set foot on his homeland and elevated the honor of his people, passed away at the age of ninety-three. Yet, the entire nation mourns the hero's sorrow. At this time, the wise elder, known as the sage Almerik bi, who had gained respect and prestige, was also approaching eighty. Losing his companion and confidant weighs heavily on him as well. From a distance that seemed like a horse's gallop, he calls out, "Oh, my brother!" as he approaches the village of Syrymbet batyr. The elderly and young of the mourning village weep like calves, lamenting their mighty hero. Almerik bi, having fallen from his horse, first approaches Hankeldi, who is crying at the door, with his hands on his hips. Then, thinking that it would be a comfort for others, he greets everyone in turn. After fulfilling this duty, he expresses his condolences: – Oh, my people, the mighty Syrymbet batyr, as tall as a mountain, is no longer in this world. But his valor will not fade from the hearts of the people. Look, my people, the horse's place will be taken by a foal. The people will follow the path of the hero and preserve his glory. Syrymbet batyr's legacy is unbroken. Hankeldi, my dear, you are now the pillar of support for your people. Do not let them down! You have learned much from your father. Sharpen your arrow, protect your people, may God guide you! Encouraged by the elder's words, other elders also speak up, supporting him with goodwill. – What you say is true, elder! May it reach the ears of the angel! – they say, eager for good deeds. Almerik bi then turns to Hankeldi batyr himself. – Well, my dear, there is no life that does not pass, no iron that does not bend. The hero passes, but the people remain. It is the hero who keeps the remaining people from grieving and maintains their prosperity. You are now the defender of your large people. May your forehead be kissed by the sun, may your benefit be for the people! Then your people will find the essence of Syrymbet in you, in your thoughts. Hold high the path of your father! The people's hearts are moved by the elder's counsel, and they reflect deeply. Each person envisions their future in various ways. Sensing this, the elder sharpens his thoughts further and weaves them together: – The wind is the thread of the wind, The road is the expanse of the people. The storm – it roars and stirs, Frightening and disturbing the people. The past life is an extinguished ember, No one has left the people. The end of life is death, Your eternal place is the grave. What exists today will be gone tomorrow, May you continue to rise! – Syrymbet did not leave with unfulfilled dreams, – says another sturdy elder, continuing the conversation, – he accomplished what he needed to, lived for his people. For this, may his soil be sacred, may it be a shroud! – Now, – says the elder, – the foundation for the people to ponder and reflect is here. On the day of mourning, the elder recounts many events and phenomena from the past and present, weaving them together like magic to help the people understand.
