Dosbol
From the Middle Horde, the Kipchak tribe, during his youth, Dospol Datka was testing his wisdom while choosing a bride and traveling through the land. On the road, he met an old man and, after walking together for a while, Dospol asked the old man: – As a senior, will you carry this road, or as a junior, shall I carry it? – My son, what kind of talk is this? How can we carry the earth? – replied the old man. Dospol remained silent. After walking a bit further, they came across a good crop of growing grain. Dospol asked: – Otağası, is this a crop that has grown or not? – Can a crop that hasn’t grown look like this? Haven’t you seen it yourself? Dospol said nothing. After walking a bit more, Dospol saw many people digging a grave. – Otağасы, is this a dead person or a living person? – he asked. – Oh, my son, is your mind right? How do you speak? Dospol again remained silent. They arrived at the old man's home to spend the night. The old man welcomed them into his guest house and went to his own home. The old man had a daughter. He told her: – My child, there is a guest in the house, give him some food, but I don’t know if his mind is right; he had various sayings. – Father, what does that guest say with his various sayings? The father recounted the words from the road. The girl stood up, fried a plate of fried meat, covered it with a flatbread, and sent it with one of the young men, saying, “Take this to the guest, place it before him, and say, ‘the stars are few, the moon is full,’ and whatever the guest replies, come back and tell me!” The guest replied, “the stars are few, the moon is half.” The girl sat for a while and said: – Father, your guest is not a foolish person; the earlier question about “who will carry the road” means “who will tell the story and shorten the road?” The question about the crop, of course, he must have seen that it is a good crop; “if it belongs to someone, it has grown; if it doesn’t belong to anyone, they will plant it on credit and leave with debt,” he meant. The question about the dead person means “is there a descendant left behind or not?” Of course, if there are no children, the person is dead; if there are children, the person is alive. After that, our young man failed to bring the plate of food properly to the guest, it seems he took half of the fried meat and half of the bread. The next morning, the old man called the guest to his home: – My son, I have my shame; I didn’t understand your words from yesterday’s journey, it seems the food I provided last night was not brought properly. A girl of mine has figured out your words, and now I have called you to remove my shame, – he said, slaughtering a sheep and serving food. After the meal, Dospol said: – My work in the land is such that I had a companion who understood such words. There is an old saying from our elders, “a man is a twin, but labor is solitary,” I think it is suitable to walk together. Give me your daughter, – and he took her as his wife. Eventually, this daughter reconciled the two Sart kings who were competing for the throne, bringing four datka gifts to the Kazakh name, and that is why he became known as Dospol Datka.
