About the hero Baiqozy from Tarakty
The Kyrgyz (Kazakh) chasing the Dzungars who fled from Russia rest in the open steppe, boiling salted horse meat in a cauldron, mixing curd in a waterskin, and having their breakfast to sustain them throughout the day. In one yurt sits Abilay, and in another sits the proud Argin warrior Shakshak Zhanibek. While the warrior is chewing tobacco, a young Kyrgyz man approaches the yurt, not dismounting, and extends his hand: “Zhanibek warrior, put down your tobacco!” Zhanibek pays him no attention, but to show his disdain, he leisurely knocks the remnants of his tobacco pouch against the heel of his red boot and carefully puts it in his pocket. Soon, the troops move, each tribe gathers under its own banner, and the warriors, armed with bows and arrows, form a circle around the khan. After consulting, despite the enemy's numbers, they decide to launch an attack. They call for volunteers to send out the first scout, and the young man who had asked Zhanibek for his tobacco pouch steps forward.
Upon returning from the reconnaissance, when Zhanibek asks him, the young man replies: “Neither too few nor too many.” The attack begins; the number of Dzungars is ten thousand, and the Kyrgyz suffer heavy losses, ultimately being forced to retreat. At the forefront, a tall Dzungar on a black horse enters the ranks of the Kyrgyz and knocks several of them off their horses. Zhanibek also finds himself among those retreating and, feeling deeply frustrated, shouts at the top of his lungs: “Alas, has no brave man been born among the Kyrgyz to kill this giant?” At that moment, the young man takes his bow, pulls it back with all his strength, aims, and releases. The arrow whizzes through the air and strikes the Dzungar right in the heart, causing him to tumble to the ground. The young warrior, regretting that his arrow did not hit perfectly, says: “This one must have been under God's watch.” The Dzungars, seeing their warriors fall, become flustered, and the Kyrgyz take advantage of this moment to counterattack and achieve victory. Then, Baigozy (the young Kazakh) shoots his tobacco pouch and approaches Zhanibek: “Warrior, now we can shoot tobacco,” he says. Thus, the name of the brave Baigozy becomes known among the people.
