Once upon a time, there was a rich man who had all kinds of livestock. He only longed for one child. While he was waiting, his wife became pregnant. One day, while he was taking his horses to drink water, a raw liver floated on the surface of the water, preventing the horses from drinking. The rich man struck the liver with a lasso. At that moment, the liver turned into a witch and grabbed the rich man's collar. "I will take you," she said. The rich man pleaded, "Take all my livestock, I will give you whatever you want, just let me go." The witch replied, "After your wife gives birth to the child, you must give him to me." The rich man reluctantly agreed. Then the witch released him, saying, "I will come at the appointed time." One day, the rich man's wife gives birth. She gives birth to a son who is as beautiful as the moon and the sun. Several years pass, and the boy turns ten. One day, the rich man takes his horses to the water. The witch catches the rich man and says, "Why did you deceive me? When will you give me your son?" The rich man replies, "I will give him to you, when will you take him?" She says, "Tomorrow I will move, and then I will leave my son's golden bridle for the people to find. My son will come looking for his bridle. Then you can catch him." The witch says, "Alright," and leaves. The next day, the rich man moves away. After moving, the boy comes looking for his bridle. The father says, "It must have been left behind." The boy stands up and says, "I will go and get my bridle." The father advises, "Take a halter and go among the horses, make noise with the halter, and catch the horse that looks at you." The boy goes to the horses, makes noise with the halter. Then a scabby colt looks at him. The boy catches the scabby colt and puts a halter on it. When the scabby colt is haltered, it becomes a young stallion. As the boy rides off, it turns into a strong horse. While the boy is searching for his bridle, the horse begins to speak: "One day, when your father was watering the horses, the witch caught him and tried to kill him. Your father, in fear, was going to give you to the witch. Thus, he deceived you and left your bridle for the people to find. When you get there, there will be an old woman sitting. She will say, 'If I stand, I cannot sit; if I sit, I cannot stand.' When you hear this, do not get off your horse to take your bridle; I will be taller than the wormwood and shorter than the sage, you just keep going," it says. The boy replies, "Alright," and continues on his way. When he arrives at the people, just as told, there is an old woman sitting. The boy says, "Mother, please give me my golden bridle." The old woman replies, "My child, if I sit, I cannot stand; if I stand, I cannot sit." The boy repeats his request three times. The old woman responds three times as well. Then, when the horse is shorter than the sage and taller than the wormwood, the boy grabs the bridle lying on the ground and runs away. The old woman stands up and chases him. The old woman shouts, "Hit its legs, hit!" and pulls out a tooth and throws it. The tooth hits the horse's leg and cuts it off. The horse runs away on three legs. The old woman throws another tooth and cuts off another leg. She pulls out two more teeth and throws them. The horse loses all four legs. As it is trying to escape with its chest, the boy encounters a calf and rides away on it. While fleeing on the calf, the old woman catches up. Just as she reaches them, the calf stumbles and falls. Then the old woman says, "My child, wait, let me go wash my face in the lake," and leaves. The boy rides the calf far away. When the old woman catches up again, the calf stumbles once more. The old woman falls behind again. After washing herself, she continues to chase until she reaches a place where the calf runs out of energy and climbs a tree. The old woman comes and starts digging at the tree with her teeth. At that moment, a fox comes and says, "Mother, you must be tired, let me dig for you." The old woman falls asleep. The fox, pretending to dig, takes the opportunity to steal the old woman's teeth while she is asleep. When the old woman wakes up, the fox is gone. "Oh, you rascal, what have you done!" she exclaims, pulling out another tooth and starting to dig again. Thus, the old woman gets closer to bringing down the tree. At that moment, a goose flies down from the sky. The boy pleads with the goose. The goose flies to the boy's village and tells his two hounds. The two hounds come out searching for the boy. When the old woman sees the approaching dogs, she asks the boy, "What are those?" The boy replies, "Those are the wild stallions of the rich man." The old woman digs again. After a while, she asks again. The boy says, "Those are the hounds of the rich man." Then the old woman realizes and jumps into a nearby hole, dying. The boy's hounds come and ask, "Where is the old woman?" The boy points, "Over there!" The two hounds drag the old woman out and chew her to death. Then the boy rides the two dogs in turns and safely returns home. Thus, he achieves his goal.
