The Bull's Roar (Version II)
Once upon a time, there was an old man and his only daughter. Their means of living was a single camel: it provided them food when they drank its milk and served as their transport. One day, the calf of the camel they were milking died, leaving the father and daughter without food. With nothing in their home, they were on the verge of starving, and the old man was deeply distressed, not knowing what to do. His wise daughter comforted him, saying, "Father, do not grieve. There must be some kindness from God; let us be patient."
As if hearing her words, two travelers arrived at the poor man's house around midday. The elder among them was an old man, and the young man beside him turned out to be a musician. The father, on the brink of death from hunger, shared his plight with his guests. Without hesitation, the old musician said, "If you give me your daughter, I will make your camel produce milk again." The father conveyed this to his daughter. She replied, "Do not refuse him, father. Let him first make the camel produce milk, and we will see what happens next."
The musician told the girl, "My dear, take the milk pail and hold the udder steady." He then tuned his dombra. After that, he went to the camel and began to play, and the dombra started to speak, saying "two, two." At one point, the girl noticed that the camel was producing milk, but not wanting to disturb her father, she pinched the udder with her finger to prevent the milk from flowing out. When the old man gestured to her, asking how it was going, she signaled back that no milk had come yet. The young man, understanding the situation from her expression, took the dombra and began to play again. At that moment, when she released the udder, the milk began to pour into the pail. The old musician was astonished by this.
The head of the household fulfilled his promise and gave his daughter to the young man who had made the camel produce milk. They say that with the milk of that camel as their sustenance, the father, daughter, and son-in-law lived without wanting for anything, not having to beg anyone, and both their hearts and stomachs were full.
