The Lonely Young Man (Version I)
One year, the Irtysh River would not allow passage, and the people were stranded at a place called Black Stallion, with their livestock suffering from hunger for several days. The elders of the community, rather than becoming agitated, decided to discuss how to get the people and the animals across to the other side of the water, and they began to ferry both people and livestock across.
In this struggle, a young orphan with a short black mare, determined not to be left behind, plunged into the water with his mare. The raging white waves swept away the thin mare and the lone young man. Regretting his actions, the young man cried out:
"Swim, my horse! Swim, my people! Swim!" – but who would dare face the open jaws of death? At that moment, another poor young man named Beilbay, riding a blue mare, decided to save his desperate companion, saying, "You will swim for your life on the blue mare," and plunged into the water with his mare.
The wild waves also swept Beilbay away. Somehow, one of the thrown ropes fell, and he barely managed to save himself. However, the other young man was swept away by the water. To ensure that the thoughts born from loneliness and poverty of Beilbay and Kamadi would be remembered by future generations, they composed the song "The Lonely Young Man."
