Көк дөнен
Мұңғұл мен қазақ арасының дау-шары бір кездері асқынып соғысқа айналыпты.
Бұл соғысқа көк дөненін мініп, бала Жәнібек те шығады. Хан Абылай мұны көрсе де, бетінен қақпапты.
Сұрапыл соғыс бастала сала-ақ, қарсы жақтың күші басым келіп, Абылай жақ ығысып қашқан екен. Қалың айғай-сүрен, у да шудың ішінде жүрген Жәнібек бір кезде Абылайдың артта қалып қойғанын аңғарып, жау жаққа қайта ұмтылыпты да, Абылайды ұтылап, қаумалап жүрген жауға араласып кетіпті. Жаудың бірталайын жер құштырып, бетін бір қайтарып жіберіп, Абылайға келіп, көк дөненін көлденең тартып:
– Қашып құтылыңыз, жаумен мен айқасамын! – депті. Абылай намыс көріп, көк дөненге мінгісі келмепті. Сонда Жәнібек ызаланып:
– Басыңды жауыңа алдырғанша, өзім алайын! – деп қылышын суырып алған екен. Абылай амалсыз көк дөненге мініпті. Жәнібек Абылайдың атымен қайта соғысқа шығып, жауды қанға тоғытып, бетін қайтарыпты.
Жаудың беті қайтқан соң Жәнібек бір кезеңге шығып, атын қаңтарып тастап, демалайын деп ұйықтап қалады.
Қайтып барған Абылай тобының ішіндегі керейдің бір шалы, Жәнібектің қайтып келмегенін біліп, іздеп шығады. Шал Жәнібек жатқан маңға келгенде атын қаңтарып тастап ұйқыда жатқан Жәнібекті көреді. Шал Жәнібекті оятып, ахуалды оған айтады да, топқа бастап кетеді.
Бұл кезде ордадан Абылай да «көк дөненін берген баланы қайта көремін» деп қузау салып жатқан кезі екен. Осы кездің үстіне Қабанбай келіп ханға үш талап қойған екен.
Сондағы үш талабы мынау екен: оң тізесінен орын беру; ол болмаса, асық жіліктің басын ұстатып бала қылып алу; ол да болмаса, қолында ұстап туын беру. Сонда Абылай тұрып:

Blue Stallion
The conflict between the Mongols and the Kazakhs once escalated into war.
In this war, young Zhanibek also rode out on a blue stallion. Although Khan Abilay saw this, he did not stop him.
As soon as the fierce battle began, the opposing side's forces were overwhelming, and Abilay's side was forced to retreat. Amidst the loud shouts and chaos, Zhanibek noticed that Abilay had fallen behind and charged back towards the enemy, getting entangled with those who were surrounding Abilay. After sending many of the enemy to the ground and pushing them back, he came to Abilay, blocking his way with his blue stallion and said:
– Escape, I will fight the enemy! – Abilay, feeling pride, did not want to mount the blue stallion. Then Zhanibek, angry, said:
– Rather than letting your head be taken by the enemy, let me take it myself! – and drew his sword. Reluctantly, Abilay mounted the blue stallion. Zhanibek, riding Abilay's horse, returned to battle, causing the enemy to bleed and pushing them back.
After the enemy retreated, Zhanibek stepped aside, left his horse, and fell asleep to rest.
Meanwhile, an old man from the Kerei tribe in Abilay's group, realizing that Zhanibek had not returned, set out to search for him. When the old man arrived near where Zhanibek was lying, he saw him asleep with his horse left behind. The old man woke Zhanibek, informed him of the situation, and led him back to the group.
At this time, Abilay was also in the midst of saying, "I will see the boy who gave me the blue stallion again." Just then, Kabanbay came to the khan and made three demands.
His three demands were as follows: to give him a place on his right knee; if that was not possible, to let him hold the head of the knee bone as a child; if that was also not possible, to give him the flag he was holding. Then Abilay stood up and said:
– If I seat him on my right knee and make him a minister, what will the people say? And even if I let him hold the head of the knee bone as a child, can a human child be a child to another? The best option, with no one contesting, is to give him my flag, – and he gave Zhanibek the flag he was holding. (This flag has been preserved by Zhanibek's third grandson, Zarykhan.)
This legend spread throughout the land, and the bards turned the blue stallion that saved the khan from the enemy into a song, playing it as "Zhanibek's Blue Stallion." Whenever this song is played, the people remember the heroic deeds of the revered warrior Zhanibek.
