Begim Saly
A middle-aged man and a young man are traveling together. Both of them are living a rough life, and their means of transportation are shabby. As the sun climbs towards noon, the travelers, having crossed a ridge, stop in amazement. Before them lies a lush pasture untouched by livestock, and in the middle of the green meadow stands a nine-canvas yurt. The somewhat frivolous young man exclaims, "Wow, whose village is this? No one ever camps here," just as the experienced old man says, "Be patient, my son, this is not an ordinary home; let's go and see." Both dismount in the old Kazakh tradition and walk towards the village, leading their horses. When they reach the house, the elder says, "We are thirsty, please bring us some drinks." At that moment, a creaky door swings open, and a person emerges. In one hand, they hold a churn filled with sheep's milk yogurt, and in the other, a bowl full of mare's kumis. The hasty young man snatches the churn and raises the cold yogurt to his head in one go. Meanwhile, the elder leisurely opens the bowl of kumis, takes a cup from his pocket, pours some into it, and drinks a cup of kumis. The owner of the house, looking at the young man, says, "Impatient one! You will have many sheep!" and then turns to the elder, saying, "And you will have many horses." After leaving, the young man asks his companion, "What a marvel! What is this house, and who is its owner?" His companion replies, "Don't speak, God has blessed us; we have met Begimsal himself." Before long, these two men turn out to be owners of countless livestock.
