Brown goose
Bayzhigit the musician, having grown up and recognized his surroundings, falls in love with a beautiful girl named Aksunkar, who is wise and charming. Aksunkar's father, Agyik the elder, is said to be a man of experience, who understands the value of life and is respected in the community, possessing his own wealth. Agyik the elder senses Bayzhigit's feelings for Aksunkar and tests the hopeful suitor at opportune moments. As for Aksunkar, following the saying "The wishes of the young are one, the knot of silk is one," she, adhering to the custom of supporting the man praised by the people, also likes the musician Bayzhigit. However, at that time, without a bride price and without a dowry, poverty binds Bayzhigit's hands and exhausts his options. One day, Bayzhigit, relying on his talent, sets a condition for his beloved Aksunkar: "If I can convince your father regarding the bride price, would you agree to be with me?!" Aksunkar replies, "Of course, I cannot disregard my father's wishes; if I hear my parents' approval, I will be yours!" They shake hands and make a promise right there. As time passes, one day, Bayzhigit visits Aksunkar's house as if he were traveling. Aksunkar's father, Agyik the elder, says: "Yes, my son, from the man comes the manliness, from the land comes the wisdom; conversation opens the heart, while silence clouds it. Even if your horse is worn out, your reputation is good; do not sit idly, stoke your fire," he advises. Aksunkar, who has absorbed her father's words, looks at Bayzhigit with a scrutinizing gaze, almost smiling slightly. At that moment, Bayzhigit, feeling inspired and realizing that such a favorable opportunity does not come often, emerges like a falcon that has shed its hood. Soon, he takes his dombyra, which he had leaned against the wall, tunes it, and begins to play a new melody that he has never played before. The sound, like the voice of a brown goose gliding over the clear lake, whispers and chirps, capturing the listener's heart from the very first note. Gradually, it seems as if the brown goose is pouring out its sorrow, its calmness turning into melody, and its chirping into lament. With each note, it shares its sorrow, making the audience feel a connection to its fate, as if they are swept away by that sorrow and melody. The brown goose continues to whisper and chirp, lamenting and calling, its voice growing more poignant. It seems to quench the thirst of listening ears and tug at the heartstrings of sensitive souls. Thus, the melody, which has made the audience the judges of the brown goose's sorrow and secrets, gradually comes to a close. Agyik the elder sits, frowning deeply. The matron appears helpless, as if she has collapsed. Aksunkar's eyes are filled with tears. Everyone recognizes the language of the music without needing words. Breaking the silence, Agyik the elder smiles at Bayzhigit: "My son, this is a melody worthy of giving a bride without a bride price. What people say is true; fortune has favored you. Do not be disheartened by being alone; there will be no girl who will not cast her eye on your talent, who will not take you to heart!" As he lifts his spirits, his gaze falls on his daughter. Then Aksunkar sharpens her father's thoughts, saying, "I am bound to your words, father! The words of the father are a duty, the words of the mother are a debt; I had a promise to keep, and you have resolved it. I was like a brown goose, and you have made me a prize for the falcon that swoops from afar. You have understood the worth of my value and expressed it. You have tailored the garment and set the bride price. Now prepare for your celebration!" Once the decision was made, Agyik did not argue; he thought this must be the will of God, and he personally organized the celebration, prepared the wedding provisions, and married his daughter Aksunkar to the musician Bayzhigit without a bride price. This melody of Bayzhigit spread throughout the land under the name "Brown Goose." The well-known musician Ashimtai also has a melody titled "Brown Goose."
