The world remains.
Abilai Khan, as if aware of his impending departure from this earthly realm, sets out to travel through the southern part of the Kazakh steppe in the year he is to pass away. A mere leisurely stroll is not in Abilai's nature; before setting out, he informs the heroes of the three zhuz (hordes) and agrees to meet in Turkestan. His intention is to take advantage of the temporary peace between the Russians and the Kalmyks to stabilize the southern Kazakh territories. He is particularly determined to return with a show of national unity without provoking the Kazakhs in the regions of Shymkent, Sayram, Tashkent, Kokand, Bukhara, and Urgench. At this time, Abilai Khan's reputation, having recently defeated the fierce Kalmyk forces and turned the Chinese and Russians back, was enough to intimidate the minor khans of Central Asia. Upon arriving in the south, Abilai Khan appoints his son Sadik Sultan to Turkestan and places his other son Adil, who was previously pledged to the Chinese, in charge of the areas around Talas and Kyzylkol. He appoints a Sart named Abdurakhman as the governor of Shymkent and another Sart named Myrzakhamet as the governor of Tashkent. Then, he leads his large army towards Samarkand. On the way, when they reach the Juphar sanctuary, named after the wife of the wise Jirenche, he pulls the reins. Considering it a holy place, he intends to rest there for the night and sets up his tent. That night, Abilai Khan converses with his brave warriors until late, and before going to bed, he asks the poet Bukhar Zhira: – We are setting out on a significant journey, you had a vision, please share it with us today. Bukhar Zhira replies: – I will not be idle; you are the Khan, you can foresee things yourself. The cool night of the south is such that if you doze off, you wake up feeling refreshed, as if you have just mounted a horse. Moreover, is it the time to stretch out? When the first light of dawn breaks, Bukhar Zhira steps outside, and Abilai Khan is also up, walking near his tent. When Bukhar Zhira approaches and greets him, Abilai Khan asks: – Yes, what did you see? Bukhar Zhira responds: – Instead of pretending to know nothing, tell us what you have seen! Abilai Khan has no secrets from the poet. After a moment of contemplation, he begins to recount his dream: – In my dream, a tiger came and lay down in front of my tent. I wondered what kind of tiger it was, and as I looked closely, it turned into a bear. How strange, it was just a tiger, and now it has become a bear! When I looked again, it transformed into a wolf. Then it turned into a fox. After that, it became a hare. At that moment, I woke up; that was my dream, – he says. Bukhar Zhira, who speaks directly to the Khan and enhances his dignity, does not delay in interpreting Abilai Khan's dream: – The tiger that lay down in front of your tent is you. The tiger symbolizes your fortune and the power that commands both distant and nearby lands. The fact that it lay down without raising its head signifies that this is where you will meet your end. Beyond this, your aspirations will not be supported by your fortune. Now, to avoid the saying, "the great Abilai has perished at the hands of the Sart," it is best for you to return safely from here... I will also tell you what your end will be. The transformation of the tiger into a bear signifies that a time will come when your descendants will struggle like bears. The bear turning into a wolf indicates that your next generation will quarrel like dogs and wolves. The fox that emerged from the dogs and wolves signifies that the generation after them will be as cunning as foxes. Finally, if what you saw was a hare, a time will come when they will hide and seek safety like hares, – says Bukhar Zhira. Abilai Khan sits in deep thought. After a while, he turns to Bukhar Zhira, as if hoping for something: – Now tell us what you have seen! – he says. Bukhar Zhira responds without hesitation: – If I tell you what I saw, the sun and the holy men on the earth are saying, "Abilai Khan has died, and we are going to Turkestan to conduct his funeral!" They are gathering like sand. There is no other way but to return safely! – he says. Abilai Khan, heeding the poet's prediction, sends an envoy to Samarkand, stating, "I had no intention of going to war; I came to pay my respects to the holy men, let the respected elders of the people come to visit." He does not stop there; he sends back the large army led by the heroes of the Middle and Lesser Hordes to their lands. However, the dream that Abilai Khan had does not leave his mind, and he becomes increasingly withdrawn, internally grappling with his thoughts. In such a moment of reflection, he picks up his dombra and plays a tune called "The World is Left Behind," "Oh, My Dear Country."
