Aymi
A girl from the Nayman tribe was promised to the only son of a man from the Kerei tribe. After the bride price was paid and the wedding was about to take place, the groom tragically passed away. A year later, news reached the Kerei side that "someone has come to propose to the girl." The Kerei side sent someone to the girl's family along with the groom they had chosen. However, the girl did not accept the man who came. The groom's side expressed their intention to return the bride price, saying, "We will return the bride price." The groom's side informed Beisembi, who was attending a meeting in Russian territory, about this situation. According to the customs of that time, if the groom who had been promised to the girl died, the girl would go to her chosen groom from that land. If that groom did not accept her or was unable to marry her, the bride price would be returned. If a suitable groom did not emerge for the girl, her side would return the bride price and gain her freedom. When Bejen arrived on the way back and spoke with the in-laws, they only mentioned returning the bride price. Beisembi said, "Returning the bride price is inevitable; if I hear the girl's wishes with my own ears," and called for Aymi, "Your betrothed groom has tragically passed away. This is the work of fate. Among us Kazakhs, there is a custom that 'a widow may leave her husband, but she does not leave her people.' Choose the one you love from these young men; if you are not satisfied, you can choose any Kerei man," he said. Aymi had heard of the renowned Beisembi from afar. When she saw Beisembi's striking figure and appealing appearance, her inner feelings of love were stirred, and she asked Beisembi, "Is it possible for me to go to the man I have chosen from the Kerei?" Beisembi replied, "It is the path laid by the people, a tradition that has continued; why not? It is possible!" The bold Aymi said, "Then I choose you; I will not go to anyone else." Beisembi found himself unable to backtrack on his own words, yet he also genuinely loved a beautiful, bold girl like Aymi. Thus, Aymi won the hearts of both the people and Beisembi with her wonderful character, pleasant actions, cheerful, hospitable, and sociable nature, as well as her keen intelligence. She also contributed her wisdom to settle disputes and called the people to unity and harmony. She gained great respect in the community. Guests arriving at her home were welcomed warmly. Delighted by Aymi's actions, Bejen immortalized his feelings and thoughts in a song titled "Aymi."
