Telqonyr (Version IV)
Fifteen raiders led by Mukey drove 300 horses from the Dörtuil people, who inhabit the northern Altai ranges, and gathered to divide the horses at a place called Karazhide, Burkeu, west of the Qaba district. Mukey set a condition for his companions:
– I don't need a large share of these horses, I only want three horses that I have in mind, just give me those? – he said. He then noticed a brown colt that was suckling from two black mares. Its perfectly shaped bones, its unyielding gait, and its racing lineage stood out remarkably. The brown colt would leap down from the sides of its two mothers like a deer and play. His companions gave him what he asked for, and Mukey achieved his dream. The brown colt was named "Telqonyr" because it had been suckling from two mares alternately. Who knows why it suckled from two mares if not the original owner of the horse? Mukey trained the brown colt as a yearling and kept it under control. If tied to a horse post, it would not stop pulling. If tied at home, it would leap to the roof. Therefore, he would attach a long tether and let it roam free where it fell. The animal would tug at the tether and play around like a fox. When Telqonyr chased, it could catch a bird, and when it ran away, it would escape without a trace, becoming a horse known as "Aitaqalsyn."
Two years later, Telqonyr's two mares escaped back to their home. One day, Mukey went to look after the livestock, climbed to the top of a high sand dune, and lay down to pray the afternoon prayer. By habit, Telqonyr was left free beside him, and perhaps remembering its mother, it suddenly neighed, tightened its belly, rolled over, shook itself, and took off in the direction it had come from. The horse owner, who barely endured the thought of missing the prayer, was drenched in sweat and rushed to the nearby villages to gather people, chasing for three days and three nights, but he could not catch up to Telqonyr and lost sight of it. Thus, filled with irreparable regret, Mukey composed the song "Telqonyr."
