There is a legend among the people: once upon a time, a famous dombra player was traveling with his friends and stopped at a house to have a drink. A fierce dog came out and wouldn't let them enter the house. Then a young girl came out of the house. The young man said to his companion, "What a rude dog this is, it doesn't even guard the guest's horse!" When the young men entered the house, the girl did not look at them and sat on the bed stitching. The dombra player picked up the silver-stringed dombra that was at the head of the bed and was about to play when the girl said, "Bring the dombra here, you will break it." Angrily, the young man threw the dombra at the girl. The girl broke the tuning of the dombra and handed it back to him, saying, "If you are a player, then play now." The young man began to play a long tune on the out-of-tune dombra. The tune stirred the girl's emotions. The girl leaned against the wall and moved closer to the young man. The young man said, "Let's tell our village, you play a tune for us," and handed the dombra to the girl. The girl played a tune and offered the dombra back to the young man. The young man, feeling inspired, began to play another tune. Pleased with the young man's skill, the girl was about to pour kumis when her mother entered the house with a container of fresh milk and angrily asked, "Who is this making noise in our quiet house?" The girl replied, "Mother, he is a traveler who came to have a drink," calming her mother's anger as she began to pour kumis. The girl offered the dombra player a cup of kumis and asked, "What is the name of your tune?" The young man replied, "This is the tune 'Ak Erke', and this one is 'Ak Tolqyn', and this one is 'Zhai Tolqyn'," and he played two more tunes along with it. After hearing this story, Ashim could not find much information about this tune, and eventually, based on the storyline of the tale, he composed two tunes named "Ak Erke" and "Ak Tolqyn" for the girl, and for his mother, who was slow to think, he played a tune called "Zhai Tolqyn."
