The state of the intermediary
In the last century, one of the four taijis from the other side, Jaiyr, held a feast, and people were invited from Saykan, Qaba, and Altai, while this side called upon people from Erenqabyrga and Bogda. The esteemed guests brought along singers and musicians, who were the masters of art in their homeland, as well as strong men with the strength of an ox. Amidst the songs being sung and the wrestlers grappling, the "Deldal" tune resonated, striking a chord in the hearts of the gathered crowd. As soon as the elderly musician Ybyray picked up his dombra, he showcased the uniqueness of his art, playing one tune after another, and at some point, when he transformed an unknown melody into a thousand variations, tears streamed down his bushy beard. The audience felt a deep ache in their bones. The elder revealed that this tune was called "Deldal," which he composed when his eldest daughter-in-law passed away. The story goes like this: When his son Naumel was moving to the summer pasture, he noticed that his fiancée had fallen ill, and after the people had gone to the pasture, he remained restless and troubled. He thought about going to check on her, but it was not easy to descend from the forty households of the summer pasture, and days went by. Understanding his son's condition, Ybyray finally sent him to inquire about her. As Naumel traveled day and night towards his in-laws, he saw a crowd of people heading towards the cemetery, and his heart sank, causing him to pull back his horse. The young man, at the end of the line, learned that the person they were burying was his own fiancée. At that moment, it felt as if the earth had fallen from beneath him, and he fell off his horse. The people recognized the groom and urged him to regain his composure and throw some soil. With tears streaming down, Naumel buried the fiancée he was to marry in the fall and returned to his desolate home in the summer pasture. For several days, he did not eat, and with his father's advice, he barely regained his senses. Finally, his father asked, "Well, my son, those who were meant to pass have passed, but what hurt you the most about this death? Tell me!" Naumel replied, "What hurt me the most was seeing the people heading towards the cemetery, and I was overwhelmed with various thoughts, falling into the 'Deldal' tune." His father Ybyray created the "Deldal" tune from this sorrowful state. After listening to the tune, the entire crowd remarked, "Oh my, this is true art; such talented hands will age and one day will be buried beneath the earth," expressing their reluctance to part with it.
