Ibn Sina's Intercession with Death
Ibn Sina was a wise and prophetic man in his time. There was nothing he could not do. No matter what illness a person had, he would write a remedy with his own hands. As days, months, and years passed, in his old age, Ibn Sina called his closest disciple and gave him a small mold. Then he said to his disciple:
– After I die, make a mold of my form, then burn my body and pour it into the mold. After that, pour the liquid from this mold into his nose! – he said. A few days later, Ibn Sina passed away. His disciple made the mold, burned his body well, and poured it into the mold. Before pouring the liquid from the mold into his nose, he thought: “First, I won’t pour all of it. I’ll try just a little drop. What will happen?” Then he dripped a drop of the liquid from the mold into his nose. At that moment, the word “ris” came out. “Ris” means to pour. The disciple thought: “This must be a medicine that can bring this person back to life. I won’t pour the rest. If I do, he will come back to life, and his fame will spread everywhere. There will be no one stronger than him in the world,” and he did not pour the liquid. Since then, no one has dared to approach such a medicine, nor has anyone obtained it. Thus, there is a legend that only Ibn Sina stood against death in the world.
