The Mother Who Stopped Amir Timur (Version II)
Amir Timur, who was no less notorious than the famous Genghis Khan for raiding lands and seizing territories, slaughtered the young and the beautiful, the infants and the elderly, the daughters and the grandmothers of the foresighted nation, spilling their blood like water. When the name of Ak Sakal Timur was heard, the cries of children ceased, and those who spoke fell silent. There was no nation that did not tremble at his harshness, no person who was not disheartened. There was no land left unraided, no territory left unconquered. In one of his acts of cruelty, Timur invaded a nation, seizing its livestock, property, and people. Among the many captives taken away was the only son of an old woman, who was as dear to her as the whites and blacks of her eyes. The old woman, bereft of her son, lamented, "Having lost my only child, who will I become if I do not pity my own soul?" and she set off after her son. Along the way, she encountered high mountains, dense forests, and wild rivers that were impossible to cross. Yet she endured all of it with patience. Eventually, the old woman reached Timur's palace in Samarkand. However, after enduring much hardship on the road, she was left with nothing but her frail body. The palace guards and attendants, seeing the old woman whose beauty had faded, whose face had lost its radiance, and whose strength had waned, did not allow her to approach Timur. Yet the determined old woman, whose courage and tenacity had not diminished, managed to reach Timur. Timur, who regarded questioning those who came before him as a sin, did not pay attention to the old woman, thinking she was just another person. He remained silent. Finally, when the old woman's patience ran out, she began to speak to Timur: – O my mighty ruler, as fierce as a lion and as strong as a tiger! Listen to the words of a poor soul like me who has come before you. Is there any nation you have not conquered, any land you have not tread upon?! You have spilled the blood of the people like water. You have poisoned the sons, caused the daughters to scream, made the elderly weep, and brought tears to the infants. You showed no mercy to any of them. You swallowed those who came before you like a dragon, devoured those who approached you, and did everything you set your mind to. You fulfilled all your desires. In this world, there is no nation that has escaped your grasp, no people that have not been drenched in blood. All of this, my ruler, you have done. The name of Timur has become famous throughout the world and has spread widely. Even with such a formidable title and everlasting glory, my ruler, you were born of a mother like me and grew up with a mother. Without a mother like me, there would have been no famous and fierce king like you. Therefore, a mother is worthy of being called both great and powerful in this world. A child is forever indebted to their mother. From that mother, both a mighty khan like you and a weak, foolish, bad person can be born. You are a khan born of a mother, and my child is a bad person. But even if he is bad, he is dear to me, he is good to me. Even a crow cherishes its chick, calling it "my precious." Such is the value of a mother to her child and a child to their mother. So, my lord! Therefore, that bad child of mine is one of your captives, lying in prison. I have come to ask for that bad child of mine. Give me my son alive in my hands! He is dear to me, – the old woman concluded her words, and the hard-hearted Amir Timur, who had never softened to anyone, who had never shown mercy to anyone, and who had spilled human blood like water, was moved by the old woman's words and returned her son unharmed. It was only the great heart of a mother and her power that could stop a ruler as harsh and formidable as Ak Sakal Timur, the one-eyed lion of the East, who had never softened to humanity, who had never regarded human words as words, and who had made it impossible for anyone to speak.
