About Uzbek Khan
In the time of Khan Uzbek, a revelation came from Allah to four saints: "Go to Khan Uzbek and bring him into the Islamic faith." By Allah's command, they came and sat outside the Khan's palace, continuing their worship. At that time, there were magicians and godless seers in Khan Uzbek's court who performed such magic: They would bring a vessel filled with honey to the Khan's assembly. When they inserted a tube into it, the honey would pour itself into the bowls through the tube, and the bowls would slide to the people’s front. The Khan considered them his sages, seated them beside him, and provided them with great service. One day, when the Muslims arrived, Khan Uzbek held an assembly as usual. As on other days, his sages brought honey with them. However, on this day, the honey did not pour into the bowls, and the bowls did not slide to the people’s front. The Khan asked why. Then his pious companions replied, "There must be Muslims nearby." The Khan ordered his servants to find the Muslims. When the servants went outside, they saw four people in different attire, bowing their heads and performing their worship. The servants asked, "Who are you?" They replied, "Take us to the Khan." They were brought to the Khan. When the Khan saw them, Allah instilled warmth in his heart. The Khan asked them: – Who are you? They replied: – We are Muslims. We have come by the command of the Great Creator to bring you into the Islamic faith. At that moment, the pious people around the Khan shouted: – They are poor people! Do not allow them to speak. Let us kill them. Then Khan Uzbek said: – Why should I kill them? I am the king. None of you have any business with me. Whose faith is correct, I will stand with them. If their faith is not correct, why did your honey not pour? You are competitors! Whoever wins, I will bow to them, – he said. The two groups argued fiercely in front of the Khan, each refusing to yield to the other. In the end, they decided to dig two ovens, fill them with ten carts of tamarisk, and put one of the magicians in one oven and one of the saints in the other to set them on fire. Whoever's faith is correct will not burn. The next day, they dug two ovens, filled them with tamarisk, and set them on fire, heating the ovens as much as possible. At that moment, the saints said to each other, "You go first, you go first," and in the end, a man named Baba Tuklas was chosen to go. He said: – Bring me armor, – and he was given armor. The hairs were sticking out from the eye holes of the armor. He entered the heated oven in that state. He placed unblemished lamb meat on top of the oven. One of the magicians burned immediately upon entering the oven. Seeing this, Khan Uzbek renounced their faith. Meanwhile, the voice of Baba Tuklas, who was reciting the remembrance, was heard from the oven he entered. When the lamb meat placed on top of the oven was cooked, they opened the lid of the oven. Baba Tuklas wiped the sweat from his face and said: – Why did you open it early? The remembrance was not yet finished, – and he emerged from the oven. The armor on him was glowing red, and not a single hair on him had been burned. Seeing this, Khan Uzbek and the other people submitted to the Islamic faith.
