Aсан Қайғы's father is a man named Sәбит. He has a black stallion, a black eagle, and a black hound. His profession is hunting. He has no children. One day, he has a dream and calls his wife: – I will die within a week. I no longer need anything, – and he releases the black stallion, the hound, and the eagle. Then he gives his wife the following instructions: – You are carrying a six-month-old son. Name him Aсан. When the boy grows up, give him this bridle, these leg straps, and this lure! This is the inheritance from your father. Go to the Бұлғыр mountain, and when you call, the stallion will come; when you nurture, the eagle will come; when you whistle, the hound will come. Once they are in his hands, he should become a hunter like me. Just make sure he never climbs to the top of the Бұлғыр mountain! – he says. – If he does, his life will be filled with hardship. After the father dies, when the boy grows up, his mother hands over the entrusted message to him. Aсан goes to the Бұлғыр mountain and calls, and the stallion comes; he nurtures, and the eagle comes; he whistles, and the hound comes. His father's saying: "The animal called Бүлғын, both the horse and itself will die while chasing it." Aсан goes hunting again. One day, while hunting, an animal runs away from him. His stallion, which can cover six leagues, and his hound, which does not let anything escape its sight, cannot catch the prey. Aсан does not give up, and when he reaches a certain place, he catches up with the animal in the afternoon. After striking the animal and tying it to his saddle, he climbs to the top of a hill and sees a village at the foot of it. A man, exhausted from chasing the animal, has arrived at the village. One girl from the village sees Aсан and "draws in her stomach." When he asks, "Why are you drawing in your stomach?" the girl replies: – The sultan of men, The stallion of horses, The falcon of birds, The hound of dogs, The white of the rifle, The cut of the sword, The tail of the fox. If you seek, how could they not be found? I was amazed that the seven have come together in one place, and that's why I drew in my stomach, – she says. After that, the girl expresses her desire for Aсан to rest, stay, and prepare to leave. Aсан, unable to resist the girl's words, stays at that house that day. When morning comes, as he is preparing to saddle his horse and leave, the girl brings honey in a bowl. Aсан, holding the bowl, says this to gauge the girl's worth: – The bark of the birch tree, Is truly the bark itself, The sugar poured inside, Yet this one part is in vain, – and he lightly touches the rim of the bowl. Then the girl says: – If it is the bark of the birch tree, If it is truly the bark itself, If what is poured inside is sugar, You would drink it without belittling that part, my fisherman, – she replies. Aсан, unable to find a response to the girl's words, mounts his horse, and the girl says again: – Your name is Aсан now. Soon you will be known as "Aсан Қайғы." I will wait for three years; the rest is up to you, – she says. From Aсан, Шашты Әзиз is born, and Едіге is killed by Тоқтамыс.
