About Khan Az Zhanibek and Zhirenshe
Khan Az Zhanibek, Jirenche was his chief minister, and he was a wise and eloquent man. They lived around the 14th century. It is said that the city of Astrakhan, located by the sea, was built by Khan Az Zhanibek. He must have been a descendant of Khan Uzbek. Jirenche's father's name was Kenes, and his wife's name was Karashash. Kenes's son Jirenche and Kuzgin's son Kose were cousins born from the same man’s daughters. Jirenche was esteemed by the Khan and the people for his eloquence. On the other hand, Kose, the son of Kuzgin, was very quick-witted and resourceful. However, the Khan and Jirenche often disagreed with Kose’s views. He was known for thinking of various tricks and schemes. He was one of the dangerous individuals that the Khan and the minister were wary of. Due to Kose's habit of publicly pointing out Jirenche's mistakes and shortcomings during several meetings, and suggesting favorable proposals for the people, the Khan's court began to see him as a nuisance. Khan Az Zhanibek gathered the leaders of the people for a large meeting. However, Kose was not informed. Hearing about the Khan's gathering from outside, Kose came to listen, curious about what the discussion might be. When Kose arrived, Khan Az Zhanibek was asking Jirenche a question and seeking his solution. The Khan said: – What is the difference between falsehood and truth, my Jirenche? – he asked. Jirenche replied: – A lie does not rise above. The truth does not get mixed. Even if you boil falsehood and truth ten times, they will not merge. The difference between falsehood and truth is as far apart as heaven and earth, – he said. At that moment, Kuzgin's son Kose jumped up from his seat and said: – Your Majesty, the answer of the eloquent one does not reflect the truth. The difference between falsehood and truth is not as far apart as heaven and earth; it is very close, just four fingers apart, – he said, spreading his palm and measuring the distance between the ear and the eye. The distance was clearly four fingers. – The difference between falsehood and truth is not as far apart as heaven and earth; what I mean by four fingers is that what the ear hears is a lie, and what the eye sees is the truth. The distance between the ear and the eye is not far, just four fingers. Therefore, the answer that claims the difference between falsehood and truth is far apart is incorrect. It is only four fingers, – Kose affirmed his words, and he was given a horse to ride and a robe to wear by the Khan.
