The old age of Zhirensha
Jirenche the Wise grew old, Karashash the beautiful died, he took a second wife, had children, and as his children grew up, they became unruly, and his second wife became rebellious, losing her respect. On top of that, after being left by the khan, he was herding calves and collecting dung to make ends meet. Khan Az Zhanibek, missing Jirenche, took a companion to visit the wise man's home to see how he was doing. Upon arriving outside the house, he asked: – Where is my wise man? Is the livestock and family well? – to which his wife replied: – Who is it that comes to seek my wise man with such respect? If you are looking for him, he is out in the field collecting dung. – After that, the khan found Jirenche in the field and dismounted, greeting him with: – How is this dung collecting going? – Jirenche replied: – O esteemed khan, In my chest, my soul sighs! Except for you, no one knows My condition or recognizes me, The words that come from my mouth Are as delightful as butter. With no supporter, I am worthless, My words find no remedy, There is no jeweler to sell my gems, Let my sorrow emerge from within! Five shortcomings in one head, How can I walk without shame? My respect has faded, I have grown old, My fortune has fled, livestock has strayed, I am unable to achieve anything. There is no one to honor me, My former eloquence is gone, What can I do in this state? My wife is rebellious, my son is unruly, They have both become a burden, oh, khan! Old age has defeated me, livestock has strayed, They have both become a burden, oh, khan! Thus, I have strayed from fortune, This dung on my back Is a piece of what has come to the wise man, – he said. After that, the khan took Jirenche back with him and made him his advisor.
