Ескелдінің бір ерлігі

Ескелдінің үлкен атасы Жанғабыл батыр әйгілі Әлібекұлы Төле бимен бастас, қадірлес, құда болған. Төле бидің Ұлбике деген қызы – Ескелдінің анасы. Ескелді дүниеге келіп, Төле биден сүйінші сұрапты дейді. Сонда Төле би: «Тілекті Алла ескерді, Жалайыр еліне ес келді, баланың аты Ескелді болсын. Елінің есіне ес қосылып, халқының қамын ойлайтын азамат болсын!» – деп батсын беріпті. Ескелдінің ат жалын тартып мініп, ел ісіне араласқан кезі – Жоңғар шапқыншылығының өршіп, әсіресе Жетісуды қоныстанған қазақ ру-тайпаларының зор күйзеліске ұшырауымен тұспа-тұс келеді. Жойқын шапқыншылық жылдарында Жалайыр елі ата қонысынан ауа көшіп, Сыр бойына ығысуға мәжбүр болады. Осындай қиын-қыстау кезеңде Ескелді би өзінің әйгілі үзеңгілестері Балпық би, Орақты батыр, Қабан жырау сияқты елге тұтқа азаматтармен тізе қоса қимылдап жүріп, атамекеннен жаудың іргесінің түрілуіне мұрындық болады. Ескелді алғаш рет жоңғарлармен болған Іле-Бақанас шайқасында (1723) батырлығымен көзге түседі. Осы соғыста жоңғарлардың Жетісудағы ең берік бекінісін бұзып, Ескелді батыр бастаған қол Қабанбай батырдың әскеріне қосылды. Күш біріктірген қазақ қосындары түріле қашқан жоңғар жақтарына Жоңғар қақпасының түбінде соққы беріп, зор шығынға ұшыратады.

Eskeldi's great-grandfather Janğabil Batyr was a close friend and relative of the famous Tole Bi Alibekuly. Tole Bi's daughter Ulbikе is Eskeldi's mother. It is said that when Eskeldi was born, he asked Tole Bi for a congratulatory gift. Then Tole Bi said: "Allah has heeded the wish, the Jalayir people have regained their senses, let the child's name be Eskeldi. May he add wisdom to his people and be a citizen who cares for the welfare of his nation!" – and he blessed him. Eskeldi's coming of age and involvement in public affairs coincides with the intensification of the Dzungar invasions, especially the severe distress faced by the Kazakh clans and tribes settled in Zhetysu. During the devastating years of invasion, the Jalayir people were forced to flee from their ancestral lands and move to the Syr Darya region. In such a difficult time, Eskeldi Bi, alongside his famous companions Balpyq Bi, Oraqty Batyr, and Qaban Zhyrau, took action and played a crucial role in pushing back the enemy from their homeland. Eskeldi first distinguished himself with his bravery in the Battle of Ile-Bakanas (1723) against the Dzungars. In this battle, he broke through the Dzungars' strongest fortress in Zhetysu, and the troops led by Batyr Eskeldi joined Qabanbay Batyr's army. The united Kazakh forces dealt a blow to the retreating Dzungars at the foot of the Dzungar Gate, inflicting significant losses on them.
