Dosai Bi
Dosai Bi was a family man with a household and children just before the invasion of the Dzungars and Kalmyks, and he became involved in governance at a middle age. As the people began to sense the impending storm approaching from outside, they asked him and his brave brother Kossai to take charge of the governance and protect the nation from the enemy. Some khans, beks, and biys who ruled the city of Turkestan at that time supported this request from the tribe. Thus, Dosai, unlike some other biys and bolys, did not spend all his wealth on campaigning for the position, but was appointed as a biy by the collective wish of the people. - Since his childhood, Dosai had been listening to the words of the khans and biys in the Karatau region, resolving minor disputes in the villages himself without sending them to the famous biys, speaking decisively and eloquently. Now that he had become a biy, he became acquainted with many renowned khans and biys, sharing meals with them. He especially met frequently with Khan Abilai, Batyr Kabanbay, Batyr Bogenbay, and biys Tole, Kazibek, and Eseiy. He resolved issues of defending the country from enemies and some complicated disputes by consulting with those biys. - The people narrate the bloody battle at the head of the Karabas River as follows: "While peacefully tending to their livestock and celebrating in the Karabas valley, the Dzungars sent spies to the Zorbai village, learning that the village leaders Dosai Bi and Kossai had gone to a gathering in Turkestan. They launched a surprise attack one night. They captured the young men as slaves, the girls as captives, and plundered their livestock and property. In this battle, the enemies captured four of Dosai's and nine of Kossai's sons, throwing them into the spring of the Karabas River. They did not just throw them in; as the water of the spring gushed out, they covered the young man who was struggling with a stone as heavy as a chest. Thus, the villains kept throwing one young man and one stone into the spring. The spring began to get blocked. The water flowed like blood. To instill fear in the people, the enemies gathered all the elderly, women, and children at the spring, shouting, "Do you see? If you resist, we will do the same to you!" and they whipped them. - This atrocity reached Dosai and Kossai, who had gone to Turkestan. They consulted with Tole Bi and Eseiy Bi, who were also at the gathering. They gathered forces and formed a group. This action reached the people. "What do you say, Dosai, Kossai have brought thousands of warriors from Turkestan, including Kabanbay, Bogenbay, and Eseiy." Upon hearing this news, the Dzungars lost their composure. The small detachment led by Eseiy, Dosai, and Kossai (not the thousands mentioned) passed through the Nogai fortress on the eastern side of Turkestan, reached the Nura ridge, and encountered resistance from the Dzungars as they approached the Mynbulak valley. In that clash, Eseiy and Dosai's forces captured some of the enemy and drove the rest away. Thus, they chased the Dzungars from the banks of the Mynbulak, Bestogai, and Karabas rivers, driving them out until they reached Babaata and Kumkent, fighting all the way. Ultimately, the enemy was weakened and defeated." - "Thus, Eseiy, Dosai, and Kossai the heroes defended our land," concluded the elder Kulbek.
