About Oraz
In the city of Karashik, there were two brothers named Zorasiban and Zhusipali near Turkestan. Zorasiban is the father of Abilai's mother. Zhusipali is the father of Oraz.
Abilai, feeling resentful that he was not chosen as khan, rides away on a blue stallion, fleeing from his people. After he leaves alone, with no one following him, Abilai's mother goes to Oraz and says: "There is no shame in being born from a girl; Abilai was born from a girl, and you were born from a boy. No one accompanied him, and no one followed him. You go and bring him back!" So she sends Oraz. Oraz, chasing after the blue stallion that Abilai rode, catches up with him at the edge of the land and says, "Return to your people." Abilai replies:
– I should not have left my people; there is no reason to go back, I will not go! – and he does not change his mind. Oraz says:
– I should bring you back; if you do not return, I will not return either, – and he goes along with him.
After wandering around Bukhara and Tashkent for a year or two, they eventually arrive at the Great Horde and come across a large feast. When the servant shouts, "Each clan should sit separately," one person, not knowing the customs of the Kazakhs, asks someone. That person explains to them and says that "each clan has its own path," after which the two sit separately. At that moment, a poet of the Kazakhs approaches, reciting poetry and asking for their names, praising them in verse. When he wants to give them something, he finds he has no money, and they have no proper clothes to give. Abilai sees that he has brought nothing but a horse from others, money from money, and clothes from clothes. Now, for Abilai, being left behind by the people was a great shame, so he decided to give away his horse. Oraz stands up and says:
– It would not be right to give away a horse; even if we are alone, let a strong horse remain, give my mare instead. – Abilai replies:
– No, my uncle, even if it is a mare, it is not appropriate to give away the horse you are riding, – and he insists. He gives his horse to the poet and they arrive at the Great Horde with just one mare between them. The saying among the people is: "Abilai came riding a blue mare from Oraz's village," and this is the reason behind it.
The descendants of the Tore clan refer to Oraz's village as "My Ancestor's Village" and granted Oraz a settlement twelve kilometers from Burabay on the leeward side of Kokshetau. When Sultanghazy Tore arrived, he referred to it as "my ancestor's grave," and when he came to Oraz's house, the elders say that he tied the bell's tongue and walked on foot that day. Other Tore descendants also walk there, calling it "my ancestor's grave."
