I was left with a mirror (Version II)
In the last century, in the village of the noblemen in Western Kazakhstan, there lived a girl named Khanim, who became a respected and skilled dombra player. In that village, there was a young man named Ospan, who had loved Khanim since childhood. Ospan was a destitute man.
Although they lived in the same village, these two young people could not unite due to the laws of the land. While this was happening, Khanim was married off to the son of a wealthy man. Ospan, on the other hand, married the daughter of another poor man. While serving as a laborer, Ospan often drove the wealthy man's livestock to the markets in Orenburg and Oiyl. On one of those trips, Ospan brought back a beautiful mirror from Orenburg as a keepsake for Khanim, saying, "Keep it close, as I see you in it."
Several years passed, and Khanim, thinking of Ospan who remained in the village, wanted to look at the mirror to remember him, but the mirror was nowhere to be found. Then Khanim took her dombra and played a tune, saying, "My mirror was left behind with the departed." Thus, this tune by Khanim became known among the people as "My Mirror Left Behind."
