The followers of the path of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi become increasingly aware of its growing strength in other regions of the Islamic world. They begin to doubt the correctness of the Yasawi path and think of ways to obstruct it. One of them was the famous scholar Baba Mashin from the Khorasan region. He comes to the city of Yasi with his strong four hundred disciples in search of Khoja Akhmet. Upon arriving in Yasi, he meets Khoja Akhmet and exclaims: – Are you the one in the green cloak who is corrupting the people and leading them astray? Khoja Yasawi tells his disciples: – He is out of his mind while speaking; he does not even understand what he is saying. Therefore, bind him and tie him to the pillar! After his disciples capture and bind him, Khoja Yasawi orders them to strip him and beat him. When they strike him for the first forty times, Baba Mashin does not flinch and does not mention the name of Allah even once. After giving him some time to rest, they strike him again for another forty times. Only then does Baba Mashin scream out, "Allah!" in a desperate voice. Khoja Yasawi orders them to stop the beating. Seeing this, Khan Hasan asks Khoja Yasawi: – The first time you struck him, he did not mention Allah's name even once. When you struck him for the second time, he screamed out "Allah!" What is the reason for this? Yasawi replies: – The demons were clinging to his back, preventing him from feeling the first forty strikes. That is why he did not feel the blows initially and did not remember the name of Allah. The last forty strikes hit Baba Mashin's back, and that is why his voice was heard. After that, Khoja Yasawi looks at the recovering Baba Mashin and asks: – Do you know where you are from? He, with tears streaming down his face, asks Khoja for forgiveness for his impudence and repents. He becomes a disciple of the master. He enters the khilwat three times and becomes one of Yasawi's beloved disciples.
