In times of great difficulty for the nation, when men were confused and women were overwhelmed, Tole Bi, who led the Great Horde, remained steadfast in his homeland, protecting his people and land from devastation. He confronted the stronger enemy and employed cunning strategies instead of senselessly spilling the blood of his defenseless people. In this context, there is a folk legend that reflects Tole's wisdom. When the people fled from the Dzungar invasion, Tole reportedly stayed behind without abandoning his home. When the commander of the Kalmyk army was surprised and asked him why he did not migrate, Tole Bi replied: – This year, a swallow built a nest on my roof. This bird was the one that saved Noah's ark from sinking when the whole world was flooded, and it protected humanity from becoming prey to snakes. I could not destroy the nest of the creature that has safeguarded my future and kill its chicks, – he said. Upon hearing this, the Kalmyk khan thought, "This is a holy man," and did not harm him.
